YouTube provides a platform for anyone to post a video about anything. Many companies now use YouTube to promote their products and even TV companies use their services. Millions of websites link to their videos hosted on YouTube.

A very small number of individuals in Greece have succeeded in forcing the Turkish Courts to place a ban on anyone in Turkey being able to view YouTube directly from the Internet.

It is indeed a sad day when just a few people can restrict the freedom of millions of others.

There are of course ways of accessing YouTube from Turkey but it requires time and effort.

If Turkey really wants to join Mummy Europe, then it must realize that just because someone says something or writes something it doesn't automatically mean that anyone is going to listen. And even if they do, knowing what other people are saying and thinking at least provides an opportunity to present counter arguments, which if legitimate and morally sound will win popular support.

and routes around it." -- John Gilmore
