Sculpture
Material Dense Grey/White Marble
Block Pre-Historic River Pebble
Origin Yatagan, Turkey
Entity Inception Date 2008 October
15 Horned Goat
Following on from the curved, cylindrical shape of my previous snake sculptures, Beige Snake and Love Snakes, I was inspired to try sculpting a pair of horns, essentially opposing spirals.
The marble pebble was not particularly spectacular but a quick cut revealed it was a dense marble, ideal for shapes that have to be strong enough to support long thinning extensions. I am still baffled as to where these things are coming from.
The finer details of this piece were done using a newly acquired air powered mini grinder, much easier and safer than an electric powered flexible shaft grinder.
This piece is featured in the 2009 Bodrum Art Group calendar.
